Created in 1999 by two friends and former colleagues, bevel was an outlet for their long-honed optical and fashion skills.

Richard Mewha was born in Britain and now lives in New York City. Rick Nelson is a Midwesterner through and through. While working with the most innovative and dedicated Japanese technicians, bevel has constantly searched out new materials; coloring treatments and tweaked shapes to produce a wholly different take on eyewear.

bevelhas been the first to introduce "Milled Titanium" - cut from sheets of titanium - and bi-colored titanium frames. They have also developed beta titanium styles with a chunky look and a super light feel.

In the Spring 2007, bevel was the first to introduce betaplast - a beta core with a zyl overlay. You get a super light frame with a plastic look and nose pads.

They have also launched more in the "retro-nerd" acetate series and some cool big men's titaniums.

Bevel has launched their own very first Men's sunglass collection in ultramatte Japanese acetates with a quality polarized lens.

Bevel is now sold in many countries around the world
